Ross Crass is an unashamed bigot. The child of two white supremacists, he grew up believing in his superiority over other races and hating anyone who appeared different. After the murder of his father, his bigotry enveloped him and continued to corrupt him. It would take a miracle for Ross to change his views. Luckily, a miracle is just what he got.
It doesn’t seem like a miracle at first. Ross loses everything he holds dear—his literary agency, his life savings, and even his autonomy—when an argument spins out of control, and he is shot in the back. Depressed and embittered, he moves into a housing project in Hartford, Connecticut.
There, he meets a black woman named Maggie Turner and her grandson, Tracie Walker. Ross originally wants nothing to do with either of them, but their patience and kindness begin opening his heart to the possibility of redemption and God’s grace in his life.
This inspirational novel addresses the toxicity of racial tensions and the nature of hate. As Ross grows closer and closer with Maggie and Tracie, he will begin to believe in miracles after all.

If you want to read a book from an Author that has spent more than a decade producing literary material then Jermaine Watkins is your guy. I've recently read his book series "The Heart Train: Episode 1" released in January of 2017 and was impressed by the complexity of plot and detail of the story. If you are not a seasoned reader you might want to re-read the story to grasp everything however, the plot keeps you interested and the writing is extremely visual. It feels as though you are watching a movie when reading a books.His writing has a mix of spirituality and factual premises, in the case of "A Change of Heart" Ross is one of the main character's that has become a symbol of populism in America. A white male figure that had limited exposure to black culture and because of a tragic event begins to change his psychology and spirituality about African Americans. Its been close to ten years since I have read this book however, the overall concepts are fresh in my mind.
In jumping into 2017, we have a new President Donald Trump; America need's to become great again. The question is how do we create unity in a country that was founded on separation? This is a great book for all races and creeds to learn more about spirituality and realism in America. Can we unite as a country without being able to see each other viewpoints, lifestyle and culture? I believe "America will continue to be great" this book is a great example of the process.
